Our Mission

Body Mind Dog is dedicated to deepening the human/canine bond through healthy movement of the body and the mind for both species.

We live in a culture that is actively unhealthy and seems to be moving in the wrong direction. With a background in dog training, I would see this every day in our business. Dogs who suffered from anxiety, obesity, had obsessive, destructive habits, or were just plain frustrated and unhappy from not having the most basic outlet a dog needs: physical activity.

At Body Mind Dog, we believe it doesn’t have to be this way.

The ability to help our dogs is within our control and the solution is pretty simple: move more.

Movement is as close to a panacea as exists.

When we move our bodies, we decrease our likelihood of nearly all the most common diseases, both physical and mental, and that certainly doesn’t just apply to human beings.

Body Mind Dog is a part of a larger cultural revolution where physical activity returns to its rightful place as a part of everyday life.

Join our community of active dog lovers. No matter where you are starting from, you are welcome here.

Be part of a positive change in your life and your dog’s.

About Amy

Amy comes from a financial services background but delved into the world of dogs in 2008, starting a franchise within a national dog training organization, the first in Michigan. That training business grew successful enough to be a consistent best performer over many years and the top franchise in the system twice.

With a focus on community involvement with therapy dog organizations and community education, Amy is an AKC Canine Ambassador, Canine Good Citizen evaluator, and dual handler for Go Team Therapy and Crisis Response dogs. She has worked with eight of her own dogs in a therapy capacity. Amy is also a Pet First Aid and CPR instructor with Pet Tech.

Leonbergers are her first dog love and Amy is also a breeder of those special mountain dogs under the kennel name ‘Good Life’ with her husband, Nick. Amy is an AKC Breeder of Merit and was invited to judge the breed at the national Top 20 competition as a breeder judge in 2023.

For many years, Amy has taught AKC STAR puppy classes and loves the special time of a puppy’s life when everything is new and all things are possible. She published a 50-page workbook entitled, “Raise Your Puppy Resilient” designed to help puppy owners through the first four weeks after a puppy comes to their new home. She is also a published author of fiction.

Nutrition has been a special interest for Amy, as she has raw fed her dogs since 2013. Fitness was a natural extension of her interest, and Amy became a Canine Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCC). She is a Level Three AKC Fit Dog instructor, and is a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200).

Basically, her life revolves around dogs.
